If we are told by our surgeon that there is not a chance for resection after our child has relapsed should we get a second opinion? Who are the leaders in surgery for neuroblastoma?
There is a link to an article on this topic below. In my opinion, it is always worthwhile to get a second opinion whenever there is a question. When my son got sick it was a second opinion that got him diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Who knows what would have happened had we waited.

I have heard that Dr. Nuchtern at Texas Children's and Dr. LaQuaglia at Sloan Kettering are two of the best.

I'd never trust anyone who says "not a chance" when talking about my kid. :-)
My son had a very successful (gross total) resection after relapse, so I know it's possible.

Our daughter had her neuroblastoma resected when she was six. She is 18 now and it returned this last December. We were first told that they would not be able to get all of it out. After 12-14 hours of surgery Dr Nutchern told us he got it all. Texas Childrens in Houston is a very good place to take your child in this instance.
